Leafs Defeat Senators, College coaches abound at AJHL Showcase!

The Laconia Leafs earned a big win at the AJHL President's Day Showcase with a 4-1 shootout victory Sunday morning over the Binghamton Senators.
College & pro coaches were on hand for the final AJHL showcase, and the Leafs did not disapoint.
The Leafs scored first, on shorthanded goal, with a feed from Corey Giczewski, Matt Delgiudice broke through 2 defenders & buried his breakaway shot. The Senators responded quickly to start the next period, and Steve Stowell added a power play goal to give the south opponent their first tally of the game.
While the Leafs battled back and forth with the Senators in the second half, Chris Wollerman netted another goal, with an assist from Fred Hein & Delgiudice, putting the blue & white ahead 2-1.
Laconia's Ryne Lubert scored another go ahead goal, again while the Leafs were shorthanded, with an assist from Conner Bates & Giczewski.
The game would not end easily, as neither team quit, and each having several late scoring chances, all turned away by Senators keeper Matt Mule, and the Leafs Robert Brown.
The Senators would pull their goalie, and Brown was equal to the task in the Leafs net. With 24 seconds left, Leafs defender Eric Williams sent a puck into the empty Senator's net, scoring his 1st AJHL goal., and sealing the Leafs victory
Brown earned the win between the pipes turning aside 33 of 34 shots.
