Utica, NY (Dec. 16, 2008) – Freshman stand out
Tim Coffman (Laconia Leafs (AJHL)/Elverson, PA) of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named ECAC Men’s West Conference Player of the Week Tuesday for the second time this season. In five out of eight weeks this year Coffman has earned either player of the week (two) or rookie of the week (three) honors for his outstanding play on the ice.
Coffman netted a hat-trick and added an assist in the Pioneers' 7-1 win over visiting Western New England College Friday night. He currently ranks fourth in the nation with 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists. The 5-foot-11 forward also leads the nation in rookie scoring with 23 points. He needs just five more goals in the second semester to tie the college's all-time single season goal scoring record (18) set by
Jon Ames in 2003-04.
The Pioneers snapped a three game winless streak on Friday and they are now 7-4-2 on the year. Utica returns to action on Jan. 9 when they host Geneseo State for a non-conference match up at 7 p.m. Live stats for the contest will be available at www.ucpioneers.com. Live video will be streaming on the web at video.fasthockey.com.
