Leafs Place Jason Olson on AJHL All-Star Team

Jason Olson has separated himself from the pack, becoming Laconia’s lone man to be selected to play in the AJHL All-Star game. He will help lead the North Conference against the South on Jan. 25 in Walpole, MA.

"It's a great accomplishment,'' Leafs Coach Will Fay said.  "Jason has worked very hard, on & off the ice, & with his play, he really deserves this.''

In the midst of a rebuilding season, and an offensive drought, the Leafs welcomed the good news regarding Olson.

If Olson was surprised by the presentation, no one in the league was surprised by his selection to the game. League coaches unanimously supported his selection to the team. College coaches have taken notice as well, as Olson is gaining more & more DI & DIII notice along the way. ''“We feel with another year of JR’s he has DI ability, character, mobility and size” Coach Fay mentioned

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Olson (Rutland, VT) is tied for eleventh in the league in points by a defenseman (12) and is leading Laconia in offensive points among all players.

"We all knew it was coming, the way he was playing for us and the way he's stepped up this year,'' Fay said. He logs significant minutes for us & simply put, he runs our blueline.”  "I'm really proud of Jason. He's really come into his own, improved so much, and deserves it more than anyone.

Speaking of improvement, the Leafs assistant captain was doing just that on Wednesday. He celebrated his All-Star selection in typical Olson fashion, by staying on the ice after practice and taking some extra shots & working on his mobility.
