Members of the Laconia Leafs volunteered this weekend at the inaugural New England Pond hockey Classic held in Meredith, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee.

The New England Pond Hockey Classic was formed  by a group of individuals who are dedicated to the creation of an event to benefit everyone involved from local and regional businesses to the hockey community, charitable organizations, sponsors and of course the participants!

We are passionate about what we do and we hope you, whether a participant, spectator, vendor, sponsor or charity, will join us during tournament weekend to experience everything the New England Pond Hockey Classic has to offer!

Laconia Leafs coach Will Fay commented "the staff & players are very excited to help with this event.  This is a throwback to my younger days, and I think everyone involved is thrilled to participate in some old school hockey."

Some FAQ regarding the event:

What are the dimensions of the goals at the 2010 New England Pond Hockey Classic?
The Goal dimensions are 6' wide by 2' deep by 6" tall.  They are hand crafted wooden boards forming a rectangle with two 1' openings on either end of the front of the goal. It stands as four walls with no top, or cover, and two openings on the ends of one board (front) where the puck will enter to score a goal.

How many games do teams play?
All teams are guaranteed four games with the possibility of more if they make it to medal rounds.

How many players can each team have?
Teams can carry four to six players in the Open, 30+ 40+ and Legend Division. The Just for Fun Division is allowed to have 4-8 players on a team. We recommend 5 to give  a substitute and to cover any injuries or illnesses which may arise.

What is the format of this year's tournament?
All NEPHC games will be played in a four-on-four, no goalie, round-robin format. Games will be two 15-minute halves with a 2-minute intermission.
