The Laconia Leafs announced today that forward DJ Haskins has committed to play his college hockey for Southern New Hampshire University beginning in the fall of 2010.
Haskins, a 5'10" 180lb, Quincy, Massachusetts native played an important role with the Leafs this past season.
“DJ is quite a young man with a solid college hockey future in front of him”, said Will Fay, general manager and head coach of the Laconia Leafs. “We are proud and excited for DJ and his family, as he is headed off to a strong program where he can continue his career as a student-athlete”.
“I feel like SNHU is the right choice for me, and I am excited to play for coach hutchins next season” said DJ. "Playing for the Leafs gave me a chance to mature, not only as a player, but as an individual. I am grateful to coach Fay, and the entire program for guiding me through the process" Haskins added.
“We are thrilled about bringing DJ to SNHU. We have been recruiting him for 2 seasons, and as he had a good year for the Leafs, he should bring an element of skill to our team for next season. DJ will join a strong recruiting class, and should have a successful career” Stated Ken Hutchins, SNHU’s head coach.
DJ is part a growing list of 2010 college commitments for the Leafs.
