MJHL Announces Leafs JR B Team as 2010-2011 member

This announcement is part of the Leafs comprehensive plan to develop more opportunities, to provide reasonable travel and greater levels of competition, as well as providing more recruiting exposure for our players.

Leafs JR B Head Coach Matt  McGilvray commented "The Metropolitan League is an established league which will provide our team with quality competition and maximum exposure. This provides an excellent opportunity for our players to compete against some of the top Junior "B" teams in the country. The league does a tremendous job promoting its players and we are proud to be a member."

“The inception of a Junior “B” team here in Laconia is a great developmental opportunity for our players,” Leafs “A” team Head coach/GM, Will Fay said. “We are confident these young men will carry on the Leafs philosophy by working hard, playing hard and providing a player pool for our AJHL team.” We are proud to be named as the newest member of the Met league, and I am confident we will be a competitive program” Fay added.

Leafs Announce Formation of JR B Team – March 2010

 “I believe coach McGilvray is the right fit for this new addition to the Leafs program,” Leafs coach and General Manager Will Fay said. “He is a former college & pro player who established himself by working hard, and winning wherever he played. Matt has recruiting contacts all over North America, and his hockey knowledge will prove invaluable to our program.  He’s a proven winner and a passionate young coach and I think he’ll do a great job in  this role.” Fay added. Matt was the Leafs top assistant coach with the Leafs “A” team this past 2009-2010 season, and was a player on 2 Leafs teams that attended JR nationals in 2002-03 & 2003-04.

Coach McGilvray commented “I am both honored and excited to take on a larger role with the Leafs organization. I am very grateful to the Leafs for giving me this opportunity and look forward to adding to the success of this program. Coach Fay and the entire Laconia Leafs organization has helped turn me into the person I am today and I am hopeful I can pass along the same ideals to future Leafs. There is a lot of hard work to be done and I am confident that we can provide a top quality opportunity for players to further their hockey careers.”
