Leafs Prospects A advance to Championship, B's to semis at Next level showcase!

Working to prove themselves, the Leafs A and B pool teams set out to make a strong showing…and they did. Against several elite programs, the Leafs played competitive hockey, and players showcased their skills throughout the weekend showcase.

"We played some solid teams," said Leafs GM and AJHL head coach Will Fay commented. "We had a great opening round, with both teams combining for a 4-1-1 record, and all players contributing”. 

"Our A group was about as complete a team in terms of the style of play as I have seen this summer, and we have proven that we can go up and down with some of the best teams in the area. I liked our approach and it turned out the way we wanted it to. We really got a great evaluation of some younger players, and our returning players stepped up. Advancing to the championship game was rewarding, and this was a good weekend for our program."

In the B pool, the Leafs new entry in the MJHL, turned a lot of heads. “This team was a bit of an unknown quantity going into the showcase” Fay said. “We had some contracted players, and also a mix of young and unseen talent that really came together.” Leafs B team head coach Matt McGilvray added “The kids really competed hard. I was pleased with their effort and the way they came together as a group in a short period of time. The weekend is a positive signal that our organization is on the right track and the future is bright in Laconia.”
